Things that people intensely care about, and no amount of discussion is really going to change.\u00a0 The one I bumped into is &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Posting_style\">top-posting<\/a>&#8220;. I know it makes email easier to read one way or the other (depending on your opinion), but a vehement pro or con? I mean really.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve added it to my own personal list of things that are, in effect, religious debates. You can talk all you want, but the opinion won&#8217;t change, regardless of what data or logic you bring to bear.<\/p>\n<p>vi vs emacs<br \/>\npc vs MAC<\/p>\n<p>Standard political stuff:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Democrat\/Republican<\/li>\n<li>for and against abortion (clever words aside)<\/li>\n<li>death penalty<\/li>\n<li>etc., etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>top-posting vs bottom-posting<br \/>\nemail vs forums<\/p>\n<p>I, of course, have my opinions on all of those. But I think at this point it&#8217;s become more of a realization that people are crazy about one side or the other, and there&#8217;s not much to be done about it. That being said, why does anyone think forums are better? I mean really :-)<\/p>\n<p>Clearly there&#8217;s subject matter there for the TV ads about people who are doing crazy things because of how much time their phone saves them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been bumping into this a lot over the past several weeks.
